Bomb And Shield Potions - Gauntlet Alchemist Homebrew Image
Prerequisite: Requires Alchemist Subclass.

Your alchemical genius allows you to further enhance your potions and elixirs by directly infusing magic into them (to turn them into a powerful temporary shield, or volatile bomb).  Starting at 7th level, as part of your "Experimental Elixir" subclass feature, you can expend spell slots on potions you create from the elixir table (This does not have to be during a long rest).  Doing so allows you to infuse them with your choice of either Radiant, Lightning, Fire, Acid, or Poison magic (only one type of magic can be infused into a individual potion at a time).

In addition to the desired effect of the potion, you or a friendly creature are enveloped in a magical shield of the chosen type of magic.  This shield has a 5 foot radius, and lasts for 1 minute.  Melee and ranged attacks against the target have disadvantage (If the target would be hit by a harmful spell, the effect of the shield dissipates, but damage taken from the spell is reduced to 0).  If a melee or ranged attack would be made against the creature, the attacker must make a Dexterity saving throw.  That creature takes 4d8 damage of the chosen type on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

You can also turn potions you create from the elixir table into a volatile bomb.  Strangely enough, your alchemical prowess allows the effect of these "bomb" potions to only affect hostile creatures.  The blast from the bomb has a 25 foot radius, and deals the same amount of damage to all affected hostile creatures.  This can either be thrown, or centered on yourself or a friendly creature.  All hostile creatures must make a Dexterity saving throw.  The lingering area lasts for 1 minute.

The chosen type of magic you infuse into your potions also have secondary effects (depending on if they were ingested, thrown, or centered).  A hostile creature suffers a condition if they failed their Dexterity saving throw (if by attacking a friendly creature encased in a shield, or hit by the radius of a bomb potion).  The condition from attacking you or a friendly creature lasts until the end of its next turn.  The effect from a radius ends upon leaving the area.

Radiant: Blinded

Poison: Suffers 1d4 poison damage at the start of its turn.  This effect bypasses poison resistance and immunity.

Acid:  Its AC is reduced by 2, and has disadvantage on attacks using weapons made of metal.

Lightning:  These conditions have advantage against targets wearing armor made of metal.
Self-Paralyzed.
Radius- Deafened.

Fire:  Suffers 1d4 fire damage at the start of its turn.

At Higher Levels.  When you expend spell slots to enhance your potions, you can expend higher level spell slots to increase the damage of the potion by 1d8 for each slot level.  The amount of damage dealt by your fire and poison potion conditions increase by 1d4, and the AC reduction of your acid potion increases by 1 for each slot spent this way.
