Perhaps you were born under an unlucky star, had to pay a steep price when seeking the help of a demon, or earned the ire of a supernatural being and are being punished for your insolence... However this came to be, the forces of the world conspire against you. The wind pushes your arrows off course, your sword slips in your grasp as you swing, your words and oratory skills leave you as you are about to speak, the shadows of the environment perfectly hide the object of your search from view.

One time a day, at the DM's discretion, you can be forced to roll with disadvantage on your next roll, no matter what type of roll it may be: attack, damage, skill check, etc. Any roll can be modified to have disadvantage. This Disadvantage completely overrides any Advantage the player has. A player rolling with advantage who suffers from Unluck when called for by the DM must roll with full Disadvantage, not simply lose their advantage.

The DM does not have to declare their intent to use this disadvantage feat before the player has decided on a course of action during the game. They may call upon the effects of the Unluck feat as if it was a reaction to the players chosen action, similar to counterspell, except that this "reaction" can be used in any circumstance where the player must roll dice.

This feat can be added to a character depending on developments within the story. This feat can also be removed from a character depending on the campaigns development.

This feat is not a curse and cannot be easily dispelled through spells like Remove Curse. Divine intervention may remove this feat from a character.

Note: This debuffing feat is meant to be a long term price/cost to pay put onto a player character for a substantial duration of a campaign as punishment for making a bad decision, or perhaps a debuff that they willingly accept in return for some kind of reward.
