You have unlocked the ability to enter an instinct-driven combat form that greatly enhances your reflexes, speed, and power. This form allows you to react without conscious thought, granting incredible defensive and offensive abilities. As you progress, you can push your body to even greater heights of instinct, and at the pinnacle of your training, you master this power, gaining its full benefits without limitations.
Instinctual Awakening (First Activation)
- Visual Transformation: When Automatic Instinct Form activates, your eyes turn silver and your body is surrounded by a bluish, flaming aura, signifying your enhanced instincts and power.
- Trigger: Automatic Instinct Form activates when you are reduced to 0 hit points. Instead of falling unconscious, you immediately stabilize at 1 hit point and enter Automatic Instinct Form for 1 minute. You can only activate Automatic Instinct Form once per long rest.
- Benefits:
- AC Bonus: You gain a +4 bonus to AC for the duration of Automatic Instinct Form.
- Dodge Mechanic: You can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on any attack made against you. When you do, you can immediately move up to 30 feet without provoking opportunity attacks. This can be done an unlimited number of times while Automatic Instinct is active.
- Regeneration: When you enter Automatic Instinct, you regain hit points equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1).
- Instinctual Attack Check: At the beginning of each of your turns, before making your first attack, you must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 10). On a failure, you immediately lose Automatic Instinct Form and cannot attack for that turn. The DC increases by 2 for each consecutive successful attack turn (resetting when the form ends).
- Constitution Strain: At the end of each of your turns while Automatic Instinct Form is active, you must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 10 + the number of turns you've been in the form). On a failed save, the form ends immediately, and you suffer one level of exhaustion.
At Level 12: Mastered Instinct
At level 12, you gain finer control over your Automatic Instinct, allowing you to access a safer, controlled version of the form, while also unlocking the ability to push yourself further for even greater power.
Controlled Automatic Instinct
- Activation: You can enter Controlled Automatic Instinct Form as a free action once per long rest, without needing to be reduced to 0 hit points. This form lasts for 1 minute and has no negative consequences.
- Benefits:
- AC Bonus: You gain a +4 bonus to AC for the duration of Controlled Automatic Instinct.
- Dodge Mechanic: You can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on any attack made against you. When you do, you can immediately move up to 30 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
- Regeneration: When you enter Automatic Instinct, you regain hit points equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1).
- No Instinctual Attack Check: You do not need to make a Wisdom saving throw for attacks in this form.
- No Constitution Strain: There is no Constitution saving throw required at the end of your turn, and the form ends naturally after 1 minute without any negative effects.
Pushed Automatic Instinct
-
Visual Transformation: In addition to the bluish flaming aura and silver eyes, your hair turns white as your body ascends to an even greater level of instinctual power.
-
Activation: While in Controlled Automatic Instinct Form, you can choose to push yourself further and begin transforming into Pushed Automatic Instinct. This transformation takes 3 consecutive turns and requires concentration, similar to concentrating on a spell. You cannot move while concentrating on this transformation. If you move during the 3-turn transformation process, you must start again from the beginning. If concentration is lost for any reason, Automatic Instinct immediately ends, and you lose all benefits.
- Concentration: While transforming, you must make concentration checks (DC 10 or half the damage taken, whichever is higher) if you take damage. If concentration is lost or you move, the transformation fails, and Automatic Instinct ends.
- Benefits During Transformation: You maintain all benefits of Controlled Automatic Instinct (AC bonus, Dodge Mechanic, Regeneration) while concentrating on the transformation.
-
Pushed Automatic Instinct Benefits (Upon Completion of Transformation):
- AC Bonus: Your AC bonus increases to +6 for the duration of Pushed Automatic Instinct.
- Power Surge: Your unarmed strikes gain a +5 bonus to damage and a +3 bonus to hit.
- Regeneration: You regain hit points equal to your Constitution modifier + proficiency when you enter Pushed Automatic Instinct.
- Flawless Evasion: When you use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack, if the attack still hits, the damage is halved. You can still move 30 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
- Instinctual Attack Check: At the beginning of each of your turns, you must make a Wisdom saving throw (starting at DC 10). On a failure, the form ends immediately, and you cannot attack for that turn. The DC increases by 2 for each consecutive successful attack turn.
- Constitution Strain: At the end of each of your turns, you must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 10 + the number of turns you've been in Pushed Automatic Instinct). On a failure, the form ends immediately, and you suffer one level of exhaustion.
At Level 20: True Automatic Instinct
Upon reaching level 20, you achieve the pinnacle of Automatic Instinct mastery. You passively gain the greatest benefits of Automatic Instinct without needing to concentrate or suffer any consequences.
- Always Active: You no longer need to activate Automatic Instinct. You gain the full benefits of Pushed Automatic Instinct at all times, with no concentration required, no need to transform, and no negative consequences.
- AC Bonus: You gain a permanent +6 bonus to AC.
- Unarmed Strike Mastery: Your unarmed strikes permanently gain a +5 bonus to damage and a +3 bonus to hit.
- Regeneration: At the start of each of your turns, you regain hit points equal to your Constitution modifier + proficiency bonus.
- Flawless Evasion: You can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on any attack made against you. If the attack still hits, the damage is halved. You can still move 30 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
- Instinctual Attack Check: You no longer need to make Wisdom saving throws to maintain Automatic Instinct. The form is always active and never ends.
- Constitution Strain: You no longer need to make Constitution saving throws. There is no exhaustion or strain from maintaining Automatic Instinct.
