The Weave is the name for the mysterious fabric of magic that suffuses the multiverse. By plucking at the invisible strands of magic to create particular vibrations, spellcasters produce the awesome and terrible power they are known for.
But what would an instrument be, if not for the sounds it produces? And what is a sound, but a vibration? Bards understand this, and use the Weave as an instrument to create their grand perfomances of majesty and magic. But some bards have an even more innate understanding, and can enable those around them to join in their performance, allowing incredible feats such as constructing large structures in a matter of hours, or achieving victory in battle against impossible odds.
As an action, you can expend three Bardic Inspiration dice to begin a Heartsong, a vocal performance that enhances and benefits all those who join in. For the next minute, or until you lose concentration (as if concentrating on a spell), all allied creatures who choose to participate in the Heartsong (this includes yourself) gain a Heartsong die, a Bardic Inspiration die of equal size to your own, at the start of their turns, and can use it in the same way they normally would.
If multiple participating bards expend three Bardic Inspiration dice at the start of the Heartsong, the size of the Heartsong die is increased by one for each additional bard for the duration of this Heartsong (for example, if an additional bard was to participate in your Heartsong, and your Bardic Inspiration die was a d8, the Heartsong die would be a d10 for the duration of this Heartsong).
In order for creatures to participate, they must all understand a common language, or have an Intelligence score of 10 or above. Creatures who meet the Intelligence requirement but do not understand a common language can participate by wordlessly singing, playing instruments or making percussive sounds, such as stomping feet, clapping hands or striking weapons on shields or armour. Participating creatures find that they automatically know the song lyrics (if they understand the common language), and have perfect pitch, timing and rhythm for the duration of the Heartsong.
Heartsong dice follow all the normal rules for Bardic Inspiration, but any unused Heartsong die a creature posesses at the end of the Heartsong is lost.
A Heartsong can also be used to enhance everyday tasks, allowing them to be completed much faster and more easily. Expending three Bardic Inspiration dice during a non-combat activity that would normally take an hour or more to complete enables a Heartsong that allows for the task to be completed 15% faster for every creature that is willing and able to participate in the task (such as having any required tool proficiencies). This reduction is additive, and caps at 90% (so two participating creatures complete the task 30% faster, three complete the task 45% faster, etc). In order for a creature to participate in this Heartsong, they must succeed on a DC 10 Performance check. This Heartsong does not affect short or long rests.
