Companion Pet: Guardian

Origin Feat

You have some sort of animal or other type of small companion or pet that you have a close bond with. This creature is always by your side unless dismissed, and is fiercely loyal and will aggressively protect you from others who would try to cause you harm. You can decide what form this Tiny or Small sized creature takes and what its personality is.

 You gain the following benefits.

Defensive Attack:  Whenever a hostile creature first moves within 5 feet of you, your Guardian can use your Reaction to make an attack against that creature. The Guardian uses your Melee Attack Bonus for its attack rolls. On a successful hit your Guardian will deal your choice of Piercing, Slashing, or Bludgeoning damage equal to your Melee Attack Bonus. (Melee Attack Bonus=Proficiency Bonus+either Strength or Dexterity modifier)

Menacing Growl: Your Guardian is very good at providing a touch of menace when you are trying to be intimidating, granting you a +1d4 to any Intimidation roll.

Watchful Companion: Your Guardian has keen senses and is always on the lookout for danger. If your Guardian is with you (not dismissed) you gain Advantage on Perception checks to notice Hidden or Invisible creatures, and on any saving throw made to awaken or recover from the Unconscious condition. 

The Guardian has no ability to communicate with you or anyone else other than displays of simple emotions, and will not willingly move away from you, unless dismissed. When dismissed your Guardian is considered to be safely hiding nearby, and can be summoned back to you after a few minutes. 

You and your Guardian are very good at working together to keep them safe while you are in dangerous situations. The Guardian companion cannot be attacked or injured, and if you are Incapacitated or Unconscious it will quickly run off and hide from danger somewhere nearby. If you are killed it will stay with your friends until such time as you are returned to life.
