This replaces inspiration.
Determination Points is a mechanic that allows your character to overcome adversity in creative ways. You will always start the session with 1 Determination Point and can stack up to 3. If you have 1 or more Determination Points at the start of a session you gain none. You can gain Determination Points by being heroic, showing your characters determination or if the DM just feels like giving you one. You may use Determination Points to...

  • Whenever you make an attack roll, an ability check, skill check, or a saving throw, you can spend one Determination Point to roll an additional d20. You choose which of the d20s is used for the attack roll, ability check, skill check, or saving throw. And you must describe why your character is determined to make the roll [EX "my character is determined because he dont like this guy and i would like to roll the attack roll again] Showing your determination in this way dose not gain points.
  • You can also spend a Determination Point when you are in a adverse situation to generate a scenario that has a favorable outcome. You must describe the scenario and what determined thing your character dose to spend the point. [EX you and your party is stranded in space you spend a Determination Point and say your character frantically sends out a repeating SOS signal and works on the systems diverting all power to extend the signal and after a short while someone comes to save you] You may not spend a Determination Point to change anything thats already been determined in the universe, and you cant use Determination Points to affect other players without their permission. Showing your determination in this way dose not gain points.
