Best Friend Forever (Animal Companion) Image

Do you want a friend that will level with you? Do you want to do it on a subclass that don't have one? Do you want to give the one from your subclass a best friend? Here you go. You gain the following benefits.

Assigning Stats. You have developed rapport with a creature. It’s friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys your commands. You have two choices, pick a creature approved by your DM who's CR is equal to your Proficiency Bonus or use the Best Friend stat block provided. If you choose to use the Best Friend stat block, it uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. Furthermore, you determine the creature’s appearance and whether it has two legs or four; your choice has no effect on its game statistics.

Combat. Your Best Friend shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the defender can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.

Summoning your Best Friend. At the end of a long rest, you can summon your Best Friend. If you already have your Best Friend from this feature, your Best Friend instead gains the benefits of a long rest.
