Environmental Adaptation Image
Prerequisite: Human, half-elf, or half-orc

The dark and frigid terrain of the arctic tundra; the unbearable heat of the desert; the oppressive humidity and grime of the jungle...these harsh terrains are where your people have made their home for generations. Some say you are blessed by mother nature, while others find the adaptations abhorrent and unnatural. The truth may be either, or somewhere in between, or something entirely different, but only your people, if anyone, know the truth of your heritage. Your eyes may be different than a normal human's, granting you a greater night vision than a normal human; or perhaps you show thick fur on your extremities to deal with the extreme cold; or maybe your body stores water in deposits around your body like a camel to survive in the desert. Whatever your adaptations, they mark you as an outsider in most places, and may cause others to treat you differently than other human compatriots.

Choose 2:

  • You are adapted to the extended months of darkness of the underground, or perhaps of the polar regions. You have developed darkvision out to a range of 60'.
  • You are able to find supplies more easily in harsh climates. You have advantage on Survival checks to find food and water.
  • You are adapted to the dry, harsh climates of the desert. You do not suffer the normal negative effects of hot climates, such as dehydration.
  • You are adapted to the cold, unforgiving tundra of the polar regions. You do not suffer the normal negative effects of cold climates, such as frostbite.
  • You are adapted to hunting and gathering food from beneath the waves. You gain a swim speed equal to your walking speed.
  • You are adapted to long ventures beneath the waves, or into environments where the air is unsafe. You may double the time you can normally hold your breath.
