On their journeys through the plains, the heroes awaken their connection to their true essence.
At every level that corresponds to a die — levels 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 20 — a character who has discovered their true essence gains a corresponding die (lvl 4 = 1d4; lvl 6 = 1d6...). They can use this die a number of times equal to their Proficiency Bonus to buff their dmg. One die per round.
Furthermore, they gain a resistance that aligns with their true essence, and they can choose a rare language spoken on the plane associated with their true essence.
After a long rest, the true essence is restored.
Ideally, the game master co-constructs with the players the prerequisites and the nature or alignment of the true essence, as well as the plain with which it is intertwined.
