You gain the following benefits.
Ability Score Improvement: Increase your Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma Score by 1, to a maximum of 30
Full casting: If you don't have spell slots for level 5 or higher, then you gain spell slots for levels 6-9 as shown on the spellcasting table on page 45 of the player's handbook. If you do have spell slots for levels 5 and higher, than you get 1 extra level 9 spell slot, and one extra for each spell level below 9 (2 extra level 8 spell slots, 3 extra level 7 spell slots, 4 extra level 6 spell slots, etc.)
Spell access: you gain access to all spells for which you have 2 or more spell slots unless you are an artificer, in which you gain access to all spells regardless.
Cantrips: you gain 2 extra cantrips from every spell list
Prepared spells: you can prepare 40 more spells than stated in your class features table
Spell mastery: Choose 3 level 1 spells. You automatically cast all of these spells at level 9 without a spell slot
