Boons:
- Grave Stricken: Your weapon is infused with the power of destined death. Whenever you damage a creature with your Death Knight weapon, they gain one Stack of Death (SD) to a maximum of six stacks. Undead and Constructs are immune to this effect. Additionally, a creature can only have 2 stacks of SD applied to them each turn. When a target has accumulated enough SD, their soul starts to rupture and they gain these effects, dependent on the amount of stacks they have:
- 1 SD. At the end of the creature's turn they are forced to make a constitution saving throw against your transformation save dc, or take necrotic damage equal to their proficiency bonus.
- 3 SD. When a creature dies, at the start of it's next turn, you can raise it as a skeleton under your control (No action required) until it dies.
- 4 SD. Choose one of the creature's ability scores. That ability score is reduced by a number of stacks that creature has, to a maximum of 5. A stat cannot be reduced below 1 in this way, and cannot be used on Constitution.
- 6 SD. You and other Death Knights have advantage on attack rolls against the target
Whenever a creature regains hit points in any way, they lose 1 Stack of Death.
- Undead Form: Your Charisma score and your Strength score both increase by 2, to a maximum of 20. You become Undead. Spells and abilities that state effects or conditions specifically regarding a specific CR have no effect on you. If any spell or ability other than your own would cause you to gain hit points, you gain that many temporary hit points instead. If you are reduced to 0 hit points and fall unconscious as a result, any healing you receive will stabilize you and leave you on 1 hit point and unconscious. You stop aging. You are immune to an effect that would age you and cannot die from old age. You do not require air, food, drink, or sleep.
Flaw:
- Anchor: You have bound your soul to the weapon you wield. Your weapon is unbreakable by any and all means, granting you great power but also great weakness. Any Divine or Eldritch Smites you had access to can deal necrotic damage instead of whatever damage they usually would. You can switch which weapon is your Anchor by conducting a ritual during a short or long rest in which you have both weapons in your possession.
However, if you are ever to be apart from Anchor, you lose access to all of your Death Knight Boons except for your Undead form. If you are apart from your Anchor for more than one day, you gain 1 level of exhaustion that cannot be lost until you reclaim your Anchor, and for each subsequent day without your Anchor you gain an additional level of exhaustion. You always know where your Anchor is located.
