Golden Dividend (Level 6 Feature)

Waukeen, the goddess of wealth and commerce, ensures that even in death, debts must be repaid.

When you slay a humanoid, their departing soul is bound by an ethereal contract, returning to serve you temporarily as a Gilded Revenant—a shimmering, ghostly figure wreathed in golden light, bearing the divine sigil of Waukeen. This spectral servant represents the deceased's final attempt to balance their life's debts, either in gratitude for your mercy or as magical reparation for the damage they caused in life.

  • The Gilded Revenant remains until your next long rest or until reduced to 0 hit points, at which point it dissolves into a shower of golden motes.
  • It shares your initiative and acts immediately after you.
  • You can command it telepathically as a bonus action, instructing it to move, attack, or take other actions.
  • The Revenant appears as a ghostly figure wrapped in golden light, resembling a shimmering version of the fallen foe it was summoned from, adorned with symbols of Waukeen’s influence—gold-threaded robes, spectral coin purses, and glowing trade seals.
  • When it moves, faintly glowing runic contract glyphs trail behind it, reinforcing the divine nature of the bond.
  • Hostile creatures in its presence sense the weight of an unpaid debt, as if the universe itself demands retribution for past misdeeds.

Golden Dividend

The Gilded Revenant exists as a temporary spirit-bound servant, representing a soul’s final attempt to settle its debts before passing on. It remains until the Warlock’s next long rest or until reduced to 0 hit points.

Ethereal Bond

The Gilded Revenant is tethered to its summoner. It shares the Warlock’s Initiative and acts immediately after them. The Warlock can command it telepathically as a bonus action, instructing it to move, attack, or take other actions.

Waukeen’s Ledger

Whenever the Gilded Revenant reduces a creature to 0 hit points, spectral coins manifest and vanish around it. The Warlock who summoned it gains temporary hit points equal to their Charisma modifier + their Warlock level (minimum 1).

Incorporeal Movement

The Gilded Revenant can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.

Actions

Radiant Recompense (Melee Weapon Attack)

  • Attack Roll: +6 to hit (Warlock's Spell Attack Modifier applies)
  • Reach: 5 ft., one target
  • Hit: (3d6 + 3) radiant damage
  • On a hit, the target must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed until the start of the Revenant's next turn, seeing golden sigils and ethereal contracts surrounding them.

Final Transaction (1/Day, Special Condition)
When the Gilded Revenant reduces a creature to 0 hit points:

  • The Warlock may use a bonus action, provided they are within 30 feet of the Revenant, to channel its essence into their Hexblade weapon rather than allowing it to pass on.
  • As the Revenant is drawn into the Hexblade, its ghostly figure flickers and dissolves, leaving behind the brief ringing of celestial coins.
  • The Warlock’s weapon momentarily shimmers with golden sigils, and faint, spectral chains wrapped in divine runes coil around the blade before vanishing.
  • Upon completion of the absorption, the Hexblade unleashes a burst of radiant energy, centered on the Warlock:
    • All hostile creatures within a 10-foot radius must make a DC 13 Charisma saving throw or be frightened until the end of their next turn.
    • The Warlock and all allies in the radius gain temporary hit points equal to 1d8 + the Warlock’s Charisma modifier.
  • Once used, the Gilded Revenant is dismissed and cannot be summoned again until the Warlock completes a long rest.

Manifestation of the Oath

The Gilded Revenant does not appear as a cursed specter but as a ghostly figure wrapped in golden light. Its form may resemble a translucent version of the fallen foe it was summoned from, but with clear signs of Waukeen’s influence—gold-threaded robes, spectral coin purses, or ethereal trade seals that glow upon its chest. When it moves, it leaves behind trails of faintly glowing, runic contract glyphs.

Hostile creatures near the Revenant feel the weight of an unpaid debt, as if the universe itself demands retribution for their past misdeeds.
