whenever you cast a spell you can choose to use one charge or both charge and spell slot
using a spell slot and charge grants you additional benefits as well as the spells level increasing by one.
using a charge causes additional affects to some of your spells
Mage armor - +1 to ac gain and gain one resistance to an elemental damage and vulnerability to the opposing element
Detect Magic - Uses detect magic See invisibility at the same time you must roll its concentration for both spells
Witch Bolt - Directly Hits targets spirit. Deals damage to their max Hp instead and the nearest creature must make a Dex save (Your save dc) or take 1/4 of the damage dealt to the enemy
