Call Of The Fathomless Image
Prerequisite: Charisma 13 or higher

You have forged a dark connection with The Fathomless, an ancient, unknowable entity that slumbers beneath the waves and beyond the stars. By invoking its power, you can channel incomprehensible and eldritch forces, but such power comes at the cost of your sanity. The Fathomless offers you strength in exchange for glimpses into the madness of the void.

You gain the following benefits:

  1. Invoke the Madness (1/long rest): As a bonus action, you can call upon the power of The Fathomless. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

    • You can add your Wisdom or Charisma modifier (your choice) to your damage rolls for all spells and weapon attacks.

    • You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened, charmed, or paralyzed.

    • Your voice echoes with unsettling alien syllables, and you can speak in a language unknown to you, one that is both disturbing and incomprehensible to others.

However, this power is not without consequences:

    • At the end of the duration, you must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15) or succumb to a brief fit of madness, suffering the Confusion spell for 1 minute.

  2. Eldritch Insight: Once per day, you can tap into the arcane knowledge of The Fathomless. You can cast the Divination spell without expending a spell slot. However, the answers you receive may be cryptic or deeply unsettling, and each time you use this ability, you risk gaining a point of temporary madness (DM's discretion).

  3. Blessing of the Depths: The Fathomless' influence begins to show in your body, twisting it in strange and subtle ways. You gain resistance to psychic damage. Additionally, once per long rest, you can use your reaction to halve the damage from a psychic attack.

Drawbacks:

  • The longer you remain in the service of The Fathomless, the more your mind frays. After invoking Call of the Fathomless a total of 5 times, you must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or gain a permanent point of madness, which manifests as a permanent flaw or disadvantage related to an aspect of the eldritch power you've invoked. This could take the form of a crippling fear, an obsession with the unknown, or an uncontrollable urge to seek out forbidden knowledge.
