Prerequisite: Ability to cast magic or use spell effects

You have tapped into the eldritch forces that empower curses, gaining the ability to manipulate fate and inflict misfortune.

  • Prerequisite: The ability to cast spells or use magical effects.

    • Eldritch Curse: You gain the ability to create and apply an Eldritch Curse. Work with your DM to design a curse appropriate to your character's abilities and background, using the Curse Framework as a guideline. This curse can be applied in combat (as an action or bonus action) or remotely (through a ritual or other means approved by the DM). The curse's power should be appropriate for your level.

    • Curse Potency: When you take this feat, choose one of the following effects to apply to your Eldritch Curse:

      • Lingering Affliction: Increase the duration of the curse by a number of rounds equal to your proficiency bonus. If the curse has a permanent duration, the target has disadvantage on saving throws to resist its effects.
      • Empowered Effect: Choose one effect of the curse. Increase its potency. Examples:
        • If the curse deals damage, increase the damage dice type by one step (e.g., d6 becomes d8).
        • If the curse imposes a condition, the severity of the condition increases (e.g., from Frightened to Petrified).
        • If the curse reduces an ability score, reduce it by an additional 1 point.
      • Contagious Curse: When the cursed target takes damage, you can choose another creature within 15 feet of the target. That creature must make a saving throw against your curse's save DC. On a failure, they are also affected by the curse for a duration of 1 round.
    • Curse Mastery:

      • Warlocks: When a warlock takes this feat again, they can choose one of the following options:

        • Apply a second effect from the "Curse Potency" options to their existing Eldritch Curse.
        • Gain a second Eldritch Curse. This curse is designed and functions as the first, but can be different in nature. The warlock can only have two Eldritch Curses active at a time.
      • Other Classes: When a character who is not a warlock takes this feat again, they can choose one of the following options:

        • Apply a second effect from the "Curse Potency" options to their existing Eldritch Curse.
        • Increase the tier of their Eldritch Curse by one (e.g., from Lesser to Intermediate), improving its overall power and effects
  • Important Considerations:

    • DM Oversight: The DM has the final say in the design and balance of any Eldritch Curse created using this feat.
    • Curse Framework: All Eldritch Curses must adhere to the established Curse Framework guidelines.
    • Balance: The powers granted by this feat should be significant but not game-breaking. Work with your DM to ensure that the curse is appropriate for your character's level and the campaign setting.
