CONTRATULATIONS! You've formed a bond with a very young dragon. With this bond comes the understanding that you do not own this creature - after all, many dragons, regardless of age, possess intelligence and wisdom far beyond that of humanoids. That being said, fear not! This dragon doesn't own you either! Instead, this is a burgeoning partnership. You take care of EACH OTHER and understand that, as long as your goals are aligned, you'll both continue to do so.
BASICS
- TALK THE TALK - You learn to speak, read, and write Draconic (your dragon companion already speaks common).
- You gain proficiency in either Animal Handling or Insight.
- RIDING - Assuming you and your dragon are in good standing, it will allow you to ride it, keeping in mind the following:
- You must be medium or smaller.
- While riding a juvenile dragon, the dragon's speed is halved.
- DURING COMBAT
- The dragon acts on your initiative and it can understand the requests (never commands!) you make of it.
- If you do not make any requests of / plans with your dragon and you aren't riding it, then it will do its best to defend you and itself.
- Arrival Time: Your dragon companion may not always be nearby and will need time to reach you. If you begin combat without your dragon, you can use a Bonus Action to summon it to arrive on your turn in the next round.
- BURGEONING BOND: When you can see or hear your dragon companion, either of you can use an action to embolden each other and grant both of you temporary hit points equal to the sum of your prestige level plus your constitution and proficiency modifiers.
- While you both have these temporary hit points, you get advantage on your first attack each turn. You may use this ability twice (combined, not each) per short or long rest.
