Blood Scribe
Prerequisite: Proficiency in Medicine
You have learned to harvest arcane components from the blood of the dead, using their essence to empower your magic. Your practice borders on the macabre, but yields potent results.
-
You gain proficiency with alchemist’s supplies if you don’t already have it.
-
During a long rest, you can attempt to extract components from a corpse to create a Bloodstone. To do so, make a Medicine check or an alchemist’s supplies check (your choice). On a success, you craft one Bloodstone from a humanoid corpse (DC 10) or two Bloodstones from a celestial or fiend corpse (DC 15).
-
Blood Scribing. When copying a spell into your spellbook or crafting a spell scroll, you can expend one or more Bloodstones to reduce the gp cost by 50 gp per Bloodstone used.
-
Crafting Components. You can use Bloodstones to create permanent material components for spells that require components with a gold cost. For each 50 gp of the component’s value, you must expend one Bloodstone and spend 1 hour of focused work per Bloodstone used. These components function normally for all spell requirements.
-
Macabre Reputation. Bloodstones are grim, unsettling items infused with the essence of the dead. Most merchants, artificers, and spellcasters refuse to trade in such materials, and few are willing to buy them—regardless of their magical value.
