You carry a stolen artifact from Bayoneta’s vault—a broken compass that hums with infernal and divine echoes. This object contains encoded coordinates to the mythical Vein-Forge, a site of ancient blood magic and elemental power. But unlocking its secrets requires wit, will, and someone you trust.
Benefit:
-
Compass of the Lost Tide: As a bonus action once per short rest, you can consult the compass to cast Detect Magic or Locate Object without expending a spell slot. When used to track infernal, necrotic, or blood magic-related items, you gain advantage on the check or save involved.
-
Vein-Forge Cluekeeper: You carry a sliver of lost knowledge. As a result, you can attempt an Intelligence (Arcana) or Wisdom (Insight) check (DC 15) once per long rest when encountering a magical mechanism, ancient script, or relic to gain a clue about its connection to the Vein-Forge.
-
Mistrustful Alliance: You refuse to part with the artifact unless another creature commits to your goal. You may initiate a magical Pact of Purpose by shaking hands or locking eyes for 6 seconds. The other creature must succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC 14) or be magically bound to your shared objective. While bound:
-
Both you and the creature gain a +1 bonus to saving throws against being charmed or frightened when working toward the goal.
-
If either party breaks the pact (abandoning or sabotaging the goal), they suffer 1d6 psychic damage per day until they atone (DM’s discretion).
-
-
Legacy of the Infernal Tide: Your tiefling heritage and past grant you resistance to cold and necrotic damage. If you already have resistance to one, you may choose to gain resistance to the other.
