Kraken, while relatively easy to produce, is difficult to obtain due to its base ingredient being the petrified wood found in the petrifaction region. This substance first gained the name Kraken due to the tentacle-like shapes of the ever-dying trees of the region, but was also believed to be named Kraken because of the hellish danger it takes to secure. The petrified wood, once harvested, is carefully broken down into smaller pieces and soaked inside a gelatinous cube. The reaction between the unique acid of the gelatinous creature and the hydrogen that binds silica to cellulose in the wood's cell walls makes the stick even more brittle and powdery. The resulting sticks are then snapped and sniffed to increase concentration and alertness.

Long-term use of the substance has been known to increase concentration but decrease one's natural healing process.
