You have learned to harness and channel the very weight of the promises you make to other individuals. Your oaths to other individuals grant you power once they are fulfilled, but can provoke negative results if your promises are unfulfilled or broken.

A promise can be made between you and one other willing creature, and must be verbally sworn in a language both can understand. It takes ten minutes for the promise to be forged in magic, during which you and the other character cannot take any other actions and must remain in uninterrupted conversation.

The promise needs to contain a clear objective - for example, hunting a corrupt devil, or returning a priceless artifact to its rightful owner. A promise made in this way lasts for up to one week.

Using this feat, a promise may be considered minor (affecting one or a small group of people), major (affecting a large group of people, a town, or a significant character), or imperative (promises that will affect entire regions, campaigns, or other immense-scale outcomes). The DM will determine what category a promise will fall into.

Once a promise is completed as determined by the DM, depending on where your promise lands on the Promises chart, you will gain an extra die that is added to all ability checks and saving throws made for 24 hours, whereupon the boon ends and you may use this feat to create a new promise.

If you fail to meet the conditions of your promise as determined by the DM, or if the promise timer expires, you will instead subtract the extra die from all ability checks and saving throws made for 24 hours, whereupon the debuff ends and you may use this feat to create a new promise.
