Your martial training against magical foes has honed your combat prowess. You gain the following benefits:
- You learn two maneuvers of your choice from the list provided. If a maneuver you use requires your target to make a saving throw to resist the maneuver's effects, the saving throw DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier (your choice).
- You gain one superiority die, which is a d6 (this die is added to any superiority dice you have from another source). This die is used to fuel your maneuvers. A superiority die is expended when you use it. You regain your expended superiority dice when you finish a short or long rest.
- When you perform one of the maneuvers gained from this feat, you can throw caution to the wind to increase the maneuver's potency. As a part of the maneuver, subtract the number rolled on the superiority die from any ability checks or saving throws until the start of your next turn and inflict the listed Reckless effect. Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.
-
Whenever you gain a level, you may swap one of the maneuvers with a different one from the list.
Maneuvers
Arcanist Tactician
When a creature you can see casts a spell, you can use your reaction and expend a superiority die to aid in their spellcasting. Roll a superiority die. If the spell involves an attack roll, add the number rolled to the roll. If the spell involves multiple attack rolls, choose one attack roll to receive the bonus. If the spell forces a saving throw, subtract the number rolled from the saving throw. If the spell forces multiple targets to make a saving throw, choose one affected creature to receive the penalty.
Reckless. Add the number rolled on the superiority die to the damage of the spell.
Befuddling Strike
When you hit a creature that is concentrating on a spell or magical effect as part of the Attack action, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to break the target's focus. You add the superiority die to the attack's damage roll and the target receives a penalty to their concentration check equal to the number rolled.
Reckless. The target has disadvantage on the concentration check triggered by this maneuver.
Crippling Blow
When you hit a creature as part of the Attack action, you can expend one superiority die and attempt to cripple them. You add the superiority die to the attack's damage roll, and the target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the target is either blinded, deafened, or silenced until the end of your next turn.
A silenced creature is unable to speak or perform the verbal components for spells for the duration.
Reckless. The target is effected by two of the above conditions instead of one.
Fearful Finisher
When you kill or incapacitate a creature as part of the Attack action, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to instill fear in nearby enemies. Choose a number of creatures you can see up to your proficiency bonus. Those creatures must make a WIS saving throw or be frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
Reckless. Choose a number of allies up to your proficiency bonus that you can see. The frightened creatures are also afraid of them until the end of your next turn.
Sigil Breaker
When a creature you can casts a spell within your melee range, you can use your reaction and expend one superiority die to attempt to interrupt their arcana. The target must make a concentration check against your maneuver DC or the spell fails and the spell slot is wasted.
Reckless. If the target fails their concentration check to cast their spell, you can choose to redirect the spell instead of counter it. Choose a creature or location within the spell's range to be the new target of the spell.
Warding Warning
When creature within 30 feet of you makes a saving throw, you can shout a command to brace them for the coming effect. As a reaction, roll a superiority die. The creature adds the number rolled to the saving throw result.
Reckless. The creature adds the number rolled to all saving throws until the start of your next turn.
