Prerequisite: Must not have Grappler, Tavern Brawler, or Duel Wielder.
You tense up whenever you're about to take damage and anticipate it. It is always harder for enemies to harm you, but you also fear that you will take damage whenever you attack something from up close. This feat is typically for those who want to take as little damage as possible, and don't care much for doing damage themselves.
The fearful guard feat is for the tanks of the D&D world. This feat is advisable for those who would rather take less damage and deal less damage than take more and deal more damage. The effects may be summarized as the following:
- Always add your proficiency bonus to your armor class.
- While attacking a creature, you have a disadvantage on your damage roll if you are in reach of the creature, flinching as if the creature is about to react. While this effect is present, roll damage normally if you have the savage attacker feat.
- Take a disadvantage on grappling related rolls, if the creature you are grappling is aggressive towards you, you are under the effects of intimidation, or you are within the reach of another aggressive creature.
- You may not take this feat if you have the Tavern Brawler, Dual Wielder, or Grappler feat. You also may not take the aforementioned feats if you have this feat.
