Designed to balance out my Illithid race for those that think it may be too over-powered. This adds details about a few disadvantages that playing a brain-eating aberration could have.
Being an aberration in the world of humanoids presents unique challenges, the foremost being that all but the most open-minded and curious people you encounter are at least somewhat unwilling to deal with you. You have disadvantage on Deception and Persuasion checks against non-evil humanoids unless they are charmed by you. In addition to this, as your eyes are accustomed to the gloom of the Underdark, your Passive Perception score drops by 1 when in bright light. You may also find that worshippers of good-aligned gods may be instantly hostile to you, while merchants and other vendors may increase their prices when selling to you and decrease their offers when buying from you.
