Prerequisite: Survived exposure to Acheron
Your soul has been scarred by the eternal conflict of Acheron. When you fall, you do not rest — you fight.
Features:
-
Acheron’s Call. When you are reduced to 0 hit points, you do not make death saving throws. Instead, your soul is pulled into Acheron.
-
Trial by Combat. While in Acheron, you must fight until you “earn your return.” Each round, you roll a contested d20 against the DM:
-
On a win, you slay your foe and are immediately restored to life at the spot of your body’s collapse. You gain the benefits of a short rest.
-
On a loss, you remain locked in battle and must try again next round.
-
-
Who Do You Face? Each time you are drawn to Acheron, roll a d6 to determine your opponent:
-
Alfred, Noble Knight — Honorable and unyielding.
-
Bartina, the Butcher — Ruthless and bloodthirsty.
-
Chume, Tiefling Sorceror — Trickster with a cruel smile.
-
Dick, City Guard — Relentless, disciplined, dutiful.
-
Ellie, Triton Champion — Fluid and merciless as the sea.
-
Freaky Frank — Chaotic wild man with no pattern to his strikes.
-
While these foes never truly die, defeating them in Acheron grants you passage back to the Material.
-
Battle-Hardened. Even when you are not pulled into Acheron, the mark of its war lingers. You gain proficiency with martial weapons and shields if you do not already.
