1st Level – Soulbound Vessel
You have bound your soul to a blade, leaving your mortal body behind. You exist as a sentient sword, your consciousness tethered to the weapon and the corpses you inhabit.
- Sword Form. You are treated as a magical sword of your choice (longsword by default, or shortsword/scimitar/greatsword). Your form cannot be permanently destroyed except by wish or taking damage that exceeds double your max hp in a single blow.
- Inert State. While uninhabited:
-
- You may cast mage hand at will to float yourself up to 30 feet per round.
- You have blindsight to a range of 30 feet. Beyond this, you are blind.
- You may telepathically communicate with any creature that is touching or wielding you.
- Possession. You can use your action to possess a corpse within 30 feet:
-
- You assume the corpse’s Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, HP, physical features, special abilities, and senses.
- You retain your Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma, and Wizard features, but may only cast spells if the host is capable of meeting the Somatic and Verbal Components of a spell if they are required. You use your spell slots, spell save DC, and spell attack bonus.
- Restored Functionality: Your magical essence reanimates a fresh corpse to functional vitality (full HP); minor injuries are repaired, major injuries remain.
- Decay & Healing: Corpses continue to decay over 1 week. Healing spells do not work on possessed corpses. Mending cantrip restores 1d4 + Wisdom modifier HP.
- If the possessed corpse is reduced to 0 HP, it is too damaged to possess again, and you must find a new host.
- Leaving a corpse is a bonus action; the body collapses.
