Forever Flesh Image
Prerequisite: Requires a character of level 5.

By some mean, your flesh and soul became bound together. Your spirit cannot leave this world behind, and your body cannot cease function. The only way to set you free would be a complete disintegration of your corporeal vessel.

You gain the following benefits:

Incarnate, forever. When you fail your third death save, or die by any means that don't result in complete destruction of your living tissue, you must roll a d4+CON Modifier. For that number of days, you are functionally dead and inert. Your mind is still active, such that spells like Detect Thoughts can still notice you, and similar abilities can be used to communicate with your spirit, however your physical vessel will slowly heal over the established number of days. (DMs discretion if healing spells can interfere or speed the process up). You get back one death save on your character.

You may also choose one of these additional options:

Bound spirit, free eyes. While your body is dead, your soul cannot move farther away from it than 10ft. If your body is in multiple parts or a form of ash, liquid, smoke, or of the likes, the biggest gathering of "you" will be considered the anchor point. If your body is destroyed, but the cause of death has a specific effect on your soul and keeps it from dissipating, whatever is holding your soul becomes the anchor. If not applicable, you may elect a personal, tangible belonging to be your anchor. While in your spirit state, you cannot communicate with those who would not normally perceive you. Spells like Detect Thoughts and abilities like Truesight still allow you to interact with the living.

To death and after. Once per long rest if you are killed(with death saves or instantly) in a way that does not cripple your body, you can force your corpse to automatically fight for you. Your body can sustain additional damage equivalent to half your max HP before complete collapse. Your body will be unable to recognize strategy or perform spells, and will always target whatever killed you, ceasing activity after your killer has been defeated.

A head start. Your head will remain conscious and able even with the death of your body. You cannot move your limbs, but you are able to vocalize and look around. Furthermore, beheading you will now let your body regenerate without a new head, and your original head can be reattached to the body after it's done healing, adding one day to the counter, but resulting in a seamless restoration of your severed neck.
