You see words just as much as you hear them; even if you cannot understand the language, you get the general meaning and emotion behind every sentence.  As long as you do not have the blinded condition, you can comprehend every language.  Once per long rest, you may make a study action (DC15 [Int] - 1 for every day you have seen the language) to be able to become Proficient in a language you have seen spoken.
