You have mastered the hidden ways of the oceans, deep lakes, and ancient submerged passageways. Your experience navigating the shifting tides, dark trenches, and forgotten ruins of the deep grants you unique strengths.
• Ability Score Increase
You increase Wisdom or Constitution by 1, to a maximum of 20.
• Deepwater Navigation
You have an intuitive sense for underwater movement and space.
-
You gain advantage on Survival checks made to navigate underwater regions, track creatures in aquatic environments, or predict underwater hazards such as currents, vents, or weak structures.
-
You cannot become lost in aquatic areas except by magical means.
• Pressure-Hardened
You are accustomed to the crushing weight of the depths.
-
You have resistance to pressure-based environmental damage (DM’s discretion; e.g., deep-sea descent).
-
You can hold your breath for a number of minutes equal to 5 + your Constitution modifier (minimum 1 minute), instead of the normal 1 + Con modifier.
• Favored Currents
You learn how to move with the flow of water rather than against it.
-
Your Swim Speed increases by 10 feet. (If you don’t have one, you gain a Swim Speed equal to your walking speed –5 ft.)
-
Difficult terrain caused by water or currents doesn’t cost you extra movement.
• Sense of the Deep
Your understanding of underwater ecosystems gives you a supernatural awareness.
-
You gain advantage on Perception checks that rely on detecting movement, vibrations, or creatures in the water.
-
Additionally, if you spend 1 minute concentrating, you can sense the direction (not the distance) of the nearest:
-
underwater cave or tunnel,
-
sunken ruin,
-
or major source of natural water magic.
-
This ability works only if such a location is within 1 mile.
