Before making an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, you may declare a Wager with the Laughing Star before rolling.
If the DM agrees the action carries meaningful risk or dramatic stakes, you roll with advantage.
If the roll succeeds, nothing else happens — the Laughing Star is briefly amused.
If the roll fails, the Laughing Star laughs, and a consequence of the DM’s choosing occurs. Possible consequences include:
• Take psychic damage equal to your proficiency bonus
• Disadvantage on your next roll
• Lose a warlock spell slot (if available)
• An enemy gains advantage on its next attack against you
• A narrative complication appropriate to the situation
You may use this feature a number of 3 times
You regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
The Laughing Star rewards boldness. Safe choices gain nothing.
