Double It And Give It To The Next Person Image

Prerequisite: Chaotic alignment or a subclass that channels chaos (DM’s discretion)

When fate comes knocking, you can refuse the bill and forward it instead.

Once per long rest, when you hit a sentient creature with an attack or spell, you may invoke this feat to manifest the Burden: a flickering sigil of glowing script, barbed chains of light, or a spectral token marked with your name (your choice each time). The target instinctively understands the Burden and the choice it presents.

  • Single Instance: Only one Burden can exist at a time. If the Burden already exists, it cannot be invoked again until it ends.
  • The target takes 1d10 psychic damage as the Burden manifests.
  • Immediately after taking the damage, the target must choose one of the following:
    • Accept the Cost: The target takes the damage normally, and the effect ends.
    • Pass It On: The target ignores the damage and instead transfers the Burden to another creature it can see within 60 feet. When transferred, the damage doubles (2d10, then 4d10, then 8d10, and so on).

Each time the Burden is passed:

  • The new target makes the same choice.
  • A creature that has already received the Burden cannot receive it again.
  • The Burden persists for up to 24 hours, until someone accepts the damage or no valid new targets remain.

If the Burden cannot be passed further, the current bearer must accept the damage.

The damage has no maximum cap and ignores resistance and immunity regardless of source.
