You have entered into a pact with a being from beyond this realm — an entity of radiant conviction whose creed is justice, truth, and mercy. Whether by desperation, arrogance, or misguided virtue, you bound yourself to its will.
The being’s influence lingers within you as a sacred compulsion.
You are cursed with an overwhelming urge to aid the downtrodden and oppose clear injustice. While you retain your free will in most matters, certain moral triggers — such as witnessing cruelty, exploitation, or deliberate deception that causes harm — awaken the curse’s influence.
When such a trigger occurs, you must either:
-
Take meaningful action to alleviate the suffering or confront the injustice, or
-
Suffer psychic anguish as the being’s will presses against your own.
If you knowingly refuse to act when the curse is triggered, you take psychic damage equal to your proficiency bonus at the end of each of your turns until you either take corrective action or the situation is resolved (DM’s discretion).
You are aware of this compulsion and may attempt to avoid situations that provoke it. However, once triggered, resisting the curse is painful and increasingly difficult.
The being’s ultimate purpose is unknown. Though its creed appears righteous, its methods are absolute.
The curse may be broken — though you currently believe no such release exists.
