You gain the following benefits:
Shielded Two-Handed Fighting.
You can wield a weapon with the Two-Handed property in one hand while you are holding a shield in the other, as long as the weapon is a melee weapon you are proficient with.
While you do so:
-
You do not gain the weapon’s Versatile benefit.
-
You take a −2 penalty to attack rolls with that weapon.
-
You cannot benefit from the Great Weapon Fighting fighting style while using a shield this way.
Brace Behind the Shield.
While you are wielding a shield and a weapon with the Two-Handed property, your speed is reduced by 5 feet, but you gain advantage on saving throws against being knocked prone or pushed.
Shield-Wall Training.
When a creature you can see targets an ally within 5 feet of you with an attack, you can use your reaction to grant that ally +2 AC against that attack.
You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all uses when you finish a long rest.
