Improvised Shield

Using an action the Monk can utilize a mundane object as a shield and gain a bonus to AC.  The object must be within 5 feet of the Monk at the beginning of their turn. The object should be either similar in size or weight to a standard shield.  (IE a chair, a service platter, a cast iron pot).  If the Monk has a single-handed weapon, the shield provides +1 to AC, or +2 AC if empty-handed.

The object used as a shield in this manner is damaged upon any successful hit against the Monk and no longer provides protection.
