Prerequisite: Ability to use both Ki points and Sorcery points
You have adopted the path of cultivation, using monastic discipline to refine raw arcane power into physical mastery. Through breath, motion, and suffering, magic is infused directly into your body.
Refine Arcane Power
As a bonus action, you expend 1 Sorcery point to regain 2 Ki points, up to your normal Ki maximum.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Dissolve Refined Ki
During a short rest, you may expend 3 Ki points to regain 1 Sorcery point.
To do so, you must spend at least 10 minutes of the rest performing focused cultivation, such as meditation, controlled breathing, or martial forms.
Conversion Limitation
Ki or Sorcery points regained through this feat can’t be converted again until the end of your next turn.
Roleplay/Lore Disclaimer
Cultivar draws inspiration from wuxia and xianxia cultivation traditions, where internal power—whether spiritual, elemental, or ancestral—is refined through discipline, repetition, and bodily mastery. In these traditions, power advances most cleanly when a cultivator’s techniques, temperament, and source of strength are in thematic harmony.
For that reason, a DM may require that a character’s Monk and Sorcerer subclasses reflect a shared philosophy, origin, or expression of power. This guidance exists to inspire narrative cohesion and cinematic flavor, not to impose mechanical restrictions. Tables that prefer greater flexibility may ignore it entirely.
Examples of Thematic Harmony
The following examples are offered solely to spark ideas and demonstrate how different subclass pairings might express cultivation in distinct ways.
Wild Magic Sorcerer + Drunken Master Monk
The Unstable Refinement Path
Your arcane power is chaotic and unpredictable. Monastic training—erratic, off‑rhythm, yet precise—exists to keep it from tearing you apart. Ki techniques act as pressure valves, allowing wild magic to be burned safely into motion and muscle. You sacrifice momentary control over chaos to keep it from doing too mcuh harm.
Divine Soul Sorcerer + Sun Soul Monk
The Radiant Meridian Path
Your magic is divine, but not external. Through discipline, prayer becomes posture and miracles become practiced forms. Ki is holy light circulated through the body, refined before ever being released. Whatever spark of the divine exists within you is channeled and refined to serve your needs.
Shadow Magic Sorcerer + Way of Shadow Monk
The Silent Depths Path
You were born close to darkness, fear, or the Shadowfell. Cultivation teaches you not to reject that closeness, but to normalize it—training until shadow obeys routine as readily as breath and step. The quiet, whether it is the presence of death, or in meditation, is always a comfort.
Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer + Ascendant Dragon Monk
The Blood Awakening Path
Your ancestral power is overwhelming until shaped. Scales, breath, and fury are not spells for you but physical inevitabilities, cultivated until the dragon within answers to discipline rather than instinct and you can manifest these traits safely.
Storm Sorcerer + Way of the Four Elements Monk
The Tempest Circulation Path
You channel wind, thunder, and motion itself. Cultivation is learning stillness inside the storm—allowing lightning to travel predictable meridians before it ever leaves the body. For you, the lightning of the storm and the heat of flame is like emotion- something that must be controlled to be useful.
Clockwork Soul Sorcerer + Open Hand Monk
The Perfect Form Path
Your power aligns with cosmic order. Every kata refines inevitability; every stance enforces balance. Ki and magic are not different energies, merely differently expressed laws. For someone connected to that order, it is only natural that you call upon that power.
