…and when the age of brittle Reason dawns,
a host shall rise bearing the First Madness,
that primal fracture by which God was undone. And from the usurper’s hand shall a fragment be given,
a seed without pattern,
nestled deep as a dreaming wound,
within the Host’s immortal soul.-Attributed to an Unnamed Yolish Seer,
whose testimony survived the Fall of God.
Your journey through the Twilight has never been a lonely one, always guided, by an unseen hand, and yet now, something else, clings on to your soul, threatening to consume that primal factor, and swallow you whole into it's machinations. A fragment of Derangement has taken root within you, gifted in that singular moment your soul brushed against the Shardbearer's impossible madness. A sliver, of undoing has taken root. The same sliver of undoing, that once unmade the world. Power without true pattern. Purpose, without shape. Whether it overwhelms you, or you find some improbable harmony with it? That remains to be seen.
With the fragment of the shard taking root, nesting itself, amongst your soul, a terrible truth becomes known to you: your body is now nothing, but a shell, to carry, and incubate the strength within. Your creature type is permanently changed to Aberration. As an action, you may expend a Warlock Pact Slot, to funnel strength into the fragment, and cause it to awaken, for a time. Any subsequent transformations beyond the first in a day require double the amount of spell slots (stacking), which can be substituted for a use of your Mystic Arcanum, resetting on a Long Rest. Your form immediately becomes that of a Belashyrra for an amount of hours equal to the level of the spell slot expended. However, you retain your class features, feats, boons, mental ability scores, and other abilities, though otherwise take on the statistics of the aberration. Any items you possess may be used by this new form, the aberrant energy changing their shapes, if required. You may use your Spell Save DC in place of any DC on the statblock, and your Spell Attack Bonus as the to-hit bonus where necessary on the statblock. If you are reduced to 0 Hit Points or die, you immediately return to your true form. If you revert as a result of dropping to 0 hit points, any excess damage carries over to your normal form. As long as the excess damage doesn't reduce your normal form to 0 hit points, you aren't knocked unconscious.
While within this form, as an Action, you may infect all creatures under the effects of your 'Eye Thief' trait with an eldritch parasite, unbeknownst to them. Willing or unwilling, they come under the effects of your Gaze of Two Minds feature, which is instead automatically maintained for the duration of the transformation, and you may read their surface thoughts as if by the Detect Thoughts spell. You may take an Action on subsequent turns to attempt to further peer into the minds of all or specific creatures infected by this eldritch parasite, forcing them to make an Intelligence Saving Throw against your Spell Save DC. On a failed save, you learn details about the creatures past and history (decided by the DM), and the creature is unaware of this and the fact it made a save in the first place. On a successful save, you learn a single past fact about the creature (decided by the DM), and it becomes aware of the parasite within itself. Once aware, a creature can take an action on it's turns to remake the Intelligence saving throw, expelling the parasite on a success, and revealing more about it's own past on a failure. Once a creature has ended the connection in this way, it is immune to this ability for 24 hours.
Flaw (The Chrysalis Watches): You, and those around you, sometimes feel or see your body twitching uncomfortably, an unnatural feeling beneath your own skin, inviting unease. Creatures who interact with you for more than a minute feel an unnatural sense of unease, and may make an Insight check against your spell save DC, halved, learning about your Aberrant nature on a successful check (DM discretion). The Aberrant shard within you has also further permanently altered your own mind, granting you the following incurable madness: "Your mind is constantly overwhelmed by a constant stream of parasitic thought, sometimes confusing your own memories and identity with that of others. In moments of stress, you may completely mistake yourself for the owners of these fragmented memories, and gain a tendency to begin speaking and interacting with visions of faces from these memories which noone else can see."
