Hollow Hunger
- You were claimed by the Null Void as a child. Though you survived, part of your soul was left hollow. You can temporarily fill that emptiness by stealing life-force through Null Siphon.
- Track your Hollow Hunger from -3 to +3.
- When you successfully damage a hostile, dangerous, magically significant, or narratively meaningful creature with Null Siphon, your Hollow Hunger increases by 1, to a maximum of +3.
- When you finish a long rest without having successfully used Null Siphon on a meaningful creature since your previous long rest, your Hollow Hunger decreases by 1, to a minimum of -3.
- Null Siphon cannot increase Hollow Hunger when used on harmless animals, prisoners, summoned creatures, unconscious creatures, or creatures that pose no real threat, unless the DM decides that creature is narratively meaningful.
Hollow Hunger States
- +3 — Overflowing: You are filled with stolen life. You have advantage on death saving throws. When you roll initiative and have no temporary hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. Your current Alignment Imprint is strong and difficult to ignore.
- +2 — Sated: When you roll initiative and have no temporary hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. Your current Alignment Imprint is noticeable.
- +1 — Fed: You have advantage on the first Constitution saving throw you make each day. Your current Alignment Imprint is faint but present.
- 0 — Stable: No effect.
- -1 — Hungry: You have disadvantage on the first Wisdom or Charisma ability check you make each day.
- -2 — Hollow: Your speed is reduced by 5 feet. You cannot benefit from temporary hit points from sources other than Null Siphon.
- -3 — Starved: Your speed is reduced by 5 feet, and you have disadvantage on death saving throws. When you see a wounded creature within 30 feet, the DM may call for a Wisdom saving throw to resist the urge to feed.
Alignment Imprint
- When you successfully use Null Siphon on a meaningful creature with a known alignment, you gain a temporary imprint from that creature. This imprint lasts until you finish a long rest or until you gain a new imprint from another meaningful creature.
- The imprint does not permanently change your alignment. Instead, your instincts, mood, voice, and choices subtly shift toward the target's alignment.
