Whether you have years researching and reverse-engineering the awe-inspiring magical technology of some ancient empire that rose to power and mysteriously fell despite the amazing artifacts they left behind or are yourself a prodigy who routinely baffles experts with unexpected approach you intuit to effortlessly give the groundbreaking magical devices you invent permanence; By unraveling the magic of an item you have taught yourself to create your own schema, complex patterns that blueprint permanent magical items and devices, understand the cryptic schema ancient magicians used to document the process in which a specific magic item is created, as well as the ability to engineer temporary solutions on the fly using the core concepts and mechanisms found among the schema you collect. Using your artificer spells as the basis, you create a volume of designs for fundamental schema; mechanisms you draw upon when you create magic items.
- Your book of schema is a valuable reference from which to cast rituals. You no longer have to prepare an Artificer spell with the ritual tag you know in order to cast it as a ritual.
- You add the Replicate Magic Item infusion to your list of infusions known, picking a particular magic item from the Replicate Magic items table options available to you when you gain this feat or from the Replicable items table available to a 2nd level Artificer if you don't have any levels in the Artificer class. This does not count against your Infusions known through the Artificer's Infuse Item class feature. You add the schema for the item you choose to your Book of Schema, and should you learn the Replicate Magic Item infusion for another magic item you add the schema for that item to your known schema as well.
- If you already have the Infuse Item feature, add one to the number of infused items you can have at a time in existence. If you don't have the Infuse Item feature, your maximum number of infused items is set to one when you use the Replicate Magic item infusion you have gained through this feat.
- When you infuse an item with the Replicate Magic Item infusion, you can opt to replicate any of the items you have in your book of schema. You may still take the Replicate Magic item infusion multiple times though if you attempt to use a schema to infuse more than one copy of an item the oldest of the two infusions immediately ends. By going through the steps you would go through to attune with an item you can use, you can instead add the blueprints for the item to your Book of Schema so long as: your levels in the Artificer and/or Wizard class; your levels in any other spellcasting class halved (round down); or one third your total character level (round down) is/are equal or greater than the requirement listed for the rarity of that item on the table below. If an item has extra requirements to attune with it and you can meet or ignore all of those requirements use your total character level instead.
