Experimental Symbiosis: Freed’S Aberrant Evolution Image

Your body endured procedures that should have reduced you to little more than twitching flesh and broken instinct.
Through a combination of aberrant tissue grafting, eldritch catalysts, and reckless experimentation, Doctor Everett Freed attempted to force mortal physiology to evolve beyond its natural limits. Where countless others failed, your body adapted.
Rather than rejecting the transformation, your pact-bound nature stabilized it.
Freed considered this one of his greatest successes.
You are no longer entirely mortal.
Increase your Constitution score by +1, to a maximum of 20.

In addition, you gain access to Freed’s Aberrant Evolution, allowing fragments of your mutation to remain active even when your full transformation lies dormant.

Doctor Everett Freed – Personal Notes, Subject: Yildirim Nath’aivel
“Unexpected success. Subject displays an extraordinary compatibility with aberrant integration. Rather than succumbing to neurological collapse, the foreign tissue appears to harmonize with existing magical pathways. Disturbing. Exceptional. I remain uncertain whether the subject is controlling the mutation—or merely convincing himself he is.”

Experimental Manifestations

Beholderkin Manifestation
A Pressure Adaptation
“The beholder survives not through strength, but overwhelming battlefield dominance. Vision from every angle. Endless vigilance. Relentless pressure. An elegant predator.”
Spectral eyes orbit your head, independently tracking threats while amplifying destructive magical output.
Core Function: Ranged spell pressure and battlefield awareness.
Notable Mutation:
Enhanced darkvision
Heightened perception
Psychic amplification on spell attacks
Bonus action Eye Ray

Mind Flayer Manifestation
A Dominance Adaptation
“True superiority lies not in destruction, but obedience. Why kill an enemy when you may instead dictate the terms of their helplessness?”
Psionic energy ripples through your nervous system as alien thought patterns sharpen your control over the battlefield.
Core Function: Psychic warfare and enemy suppression.
Notable Mutation:
Telepathy
Strengthened mental defenses
Enhanced psychic damage
Bonus action movement suppression

Aboleth Manifestation
A Debilitation Adaptation
“The aboleth understands inevitability. Survival belongs to the creature capable of making the world itself hostile to weaker organisms.”
Your body takes on a slick, alien texture as reality subtly bends around your movement.
Core Function: Attrition, battlefield suppression, and endurance.
Notable Mutation:
Aquatic adaptation
Acid resistance
Enemy movement reduction
Environmental pressure

Void Carapace Manifestation
A Survival Adaptation
“Resilience is merely evolution admitting that violence occasionally arrives before preparation.”
Segmented alien armor forms instinctively across your body, shifting to intercept danger before impact.
Core Function: Frontline durability and damage mitigation.
Notable Mutation:
+2 AC
Force resistance
Resistance to battlefield restraint
Reactive damage reduction

Freed’s Aberrant Physiology
Your mutation occasionally surfaces even outside your full transformation.
After each long rest, choose one lingering adaptation:
Aberrant Awareness
You gain darkvision 60 feet (or +60 feet if you already possess it) and advantage on Perception checks relying on sight.
Psionic Mind
You gain telepathy 30 feet and advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.
Alien Physiology
You gain acid resistance and a swim speed equal to your walking speed.
Living Carapace
When hit by an attack, you may use your reaction to reduce the damage by:
1d8 + your Charisma modifier
You may do so a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
