Arcane Inscription Adept

Prerequisite: Spellcasting or Pact Magic Feature

You have studied the principles of Arcane Inscription, a method of programming magical energy through engraved symbols, formulae, and magical circuitry.

You gain the following benefits:

Arcane Syntax

You learn the fundamentals of Arcane Inscriptions.

Inscriptions are created using combinations of:

• Nouns (targets/materials)
• Verbs (operations)
• Modifiers (behavior)
• Conditions (triggers)

You gain proficiency with one type of artisan’s tools of your choice. If you already have proficiency, you instead gain expertise with that tool.

Arcane Charge

You can channel magical energy into inscriptions.

Whenever you expend a spell slot, you generate Arcane Charge equal to twice the spell slot’s level.

Arcane Charge lasts for 1 hour unless stored within a valid Arcane Battery.

Basic Inscriptions

During a long rest, you may inscribe a number of simple effects equal to your proficiency bonus onto:

• weapons
• armor
• ammunition
• tools
• constructs
• handheld devices

A basic inscription:

• can only contain up to 3 total symbols
• cannot exceed Complexity 1
• requires appropriate materials and tools
• loses power after activation unless otherwise specified

Examples include:

• sharpening a weapon
• heating an object
• reinforcing armor
• creating light
• stabilizing surfaces

Arcane Batteries

You can create simple Arcane Batteries during a long rest.

A basic Arcane Battery:

• can hold up to 4 Arcane Charge
• retains charge indefinitely while intact
• can power inscriptions without expending spell slots directly
• requires artisan’s tools worth at least 25 gp

You may only maintain a number of Arcane Batteries equal to your proficiency bonus.

Complexity

More advanced inscriptions require greater knowledge.
