Attacking at long range doesn’t impose disadvantages on your attack rolls. 
Being within 5ft of a hostile creature doesn’t impose disadvantage on your ranged attacks. 
In times of dire need, your bow can be used as a melee weapon. It deals 1D6 blunt damage, but becomes damaged taking a cumulative permanent -1 penalty until it is repaired. (1/3 weapon cost)
