You have learned to mimic the complex enchantment grids of spell-storing matrices using volatile alchemy. You can condense raw spell slots into pressurized, rapidly deployable alchemical potions. You gain the following benefits:
-
Alchemical Storage Matrix. You can store up to 5 levels worth of spells at a time in the form of specially prepared alchemical vials. The maximum level of any single spell stored in a potion cannot exceed your Proficiency Bonus.
-
The Alchemical Ritual. Storing a spell is a meticulous process requiring a 1-hour ritual per potion. During this hour, you or another creature must cast the spell directly into one of your empty vials. If your matrix cannot hold the spell's level, the spell and ritual are expended with no effect. Once a potion is used, it frees up that space in your matrix.
-
Component Consumption. To bind the magic into a stable liquid state, all spell components are strictly required and entirely consumed by the alchemical process at the start of the 1-hour ritual. Any material components must be physically provided and are completely destroyed/absorbed by the potion, regardless of whether the spell normally consumes them.
-
Ranged Delivery (Alchemical Potion). As an action, you can unleash a potion, targeting yourself or a creature within 120 feet. The potion shatters, vaporizes, or injects its payload, instantly creating the effect of the stored spell.
-
Target Modification. The spell affects only the chosen target creature it was applied to, completely replacing the spell's normal targeting parameters (even if the spell would normally target an area, a point in space, or multiple creatures).
-
Volatile Catalyst. If the stored spell would ordinarily require concentration, it loses the concentration requirement entirely. However, bypassing the mental focus strains the magic, cutting the spell's duration in half. The spell runs for this reduced duration automatically, unless it is dispelled or the target dies.
-
Alchemical DC. Regardless of who originally cast the spell into the vial, when the potion is deployed, it uses your Intelligence as the spellcasting ability to determine its spell save DC and spell attack bonus.
