Deep Breath Image

You have honed the ability to refocus your body and mind with nothing more than a single, deep inhalation. In moments of need, you can shake off fatigue and patch wounds almost instantly. The effort is taxing, however, and once you've done it, you cannot simply rest normally again until you've truly slept.

  • As an action, you begin a meditative breath. You must concentrate (as if concentrating on a spell) until the start of your next turn. If your concentration is broken before then (for example, by taking damage), you gain no benefit from this feature.

  • If you maintain concentration until the start of your next turn, you gain the full benefits of a short rest: you may spend any number of your remaining Hit Dice to regain hit points, and you regain any class features or resources that recharge on a short rest (such as a fighter’s Action Surge, a warlock’s spell slots, or a monk’s ki points).

  • You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

  • Drawback: After you use this feature for the first time before a long rest, you cannot gain the benefits of any other short rest that takes 1 hour or longer (including normal short rests) until you finish that long rest. (You may still use this feature again, as its instant effect is the only way you can now gain a short rest.)
