General Feat (Prerequisite Fighter (Battle Master) or level 4+)
You gain the Canine Tactical Training Maneuver with the following benefits.
Coordinated Flank. When you make an attack against a creature within 5 feet of your dog, you can expend one Superiority Die to command the dog to growl or snap at that creature. The creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll against you, your dog, or an ally before the start of your next turn. Add the Superiority Die to the target's AC against that attack.
The Watch-Dog's Shield. When an ally within 5 feet of you or your dog is targeted by an attack, you can use a Reaction to expend one Superiority Die to command your dog to intervene. The dog moves up to 10 feet toward the attacker (without provoking opportunity attacks) and you can add the Superiority Die to the ally's AC. If the attack misses, the dog gets a Reaction bite attack against the attacker.
Veteran's Canine Training. The dog gains +5 HP every time you gain a level in Fighter.
Tactical Proficiency. The dog's AC is equal to 12 + your Proficiency Bonus. This represents it learning to dodge in tandem with your own combat movements.
Drop and Cover Drill. As a Bonus Action, you can command the dog to "take cover." The dog gains temporary HP equal to your Fighter Level + your Constitution modifier and must take the Disengage Action on its next turn. This represents you using your shield or your positioning to physically block incoming fire from hitting the dog.
