You have the inexplicable luck when you land a critical strike on a target with a melee, ranged, or ranged spell attack, or when the target of your AoE spell fails by rolling a natural 1, that seems to kick in at just the right moment.

  • If you roll a 20, you automatically hit for max weapon/spell damage and make another attack roll; if the roll hits, you roll for damage again. If you roll multiple 20s in a row (unlikely, but possible), you add max weapon/spell damage again, and continue with another attack roll. This result continues until you don't roll a 20, or in the case of certain classes, something that causes you to critically strike.
  • Area of effect spells that require Ability Saving Throws (dex/cha/con/etc.) that result in a natural roll of 1 by the target cause them to take maximum damage from the attack.
