Profile: Origin Feat (Level 1 Character Creation).
Prerequisite: None (Recommended for characters with nomadic, cavalier, or outrider backgrounds).
Physical Theme: You possess an innate bond with equine beasts and mounts, moving as a single unified entity. Your long hours spent traversing rugged plains and battlefields from horseback have hardwired mounted instincts directly into your muscle memory.
Static Exploration and Bond Features
Equine Whisperer:
-
You gain permanent Proficiency in the Animal Handling skill. If you are already proficient in this skill, you gain Expertise in it instead, allowing you to add double your proficiency bonus to checks made with that skill.
Stray Mount Synchronization:
-
You can spend 10 minutes of quiet bonding to instantly soothe and calm an unbroken or panicked equine mount. Once synchronized, the mount follows your basic directional commands without requiring a skill check, and it will not throw you unless it takes severe damage.
Tactical Combat Features
Saddle Anchor:
-
You have Advantage on all saving throws and ability checks made to avoid being unseated, knocked off, or forcibly pulled down from your mount. Additionally, mounting or dismounting a creature costs you only 5 feet of movement, rather than half your speed.
Cavalier Skirmisher:
-
While you are wearing light armor, medium armor, or no armor, you can fluidly shift your weight to maximize your mount's agility. Your mount gains a +10 bonus to its walking speed. Additionally, when your mount takes the Dash or Disengage action, it gains a bonus to its Armor Class equal to your Proficiency Bonus until the start of your next turn as you actively deflect incoming blows from the saddle. This speed and armor bonus are lost if you don heavy armor, or if the mount is wearing barding.
