You cannot see. You permanently have the blinded condition.
FLAW. This is a flaw feat. At your DM's discretion, you may take this feat at level 1. If you do, you may also gain a feat, or increase two of ability scores by +1 (or one by +2).
IMPORTANT NOTE. This flaw carries with it some significant problems, such as:
- All attack rolls against you will have advantage.
- All of your attack rolls will have disadvantage.
- You automatically fail all Wisdom (Perception) checks to see.
- You cannot read something unless the thing is written in braille (i.e. all spell scrolls).
- You will not be able to cast any spells with the text "that you can see".
- You will not be able to move around the world without some form of assistance.
Make sure you discuss this with your DM and the other players at your table before committing to it.
This will have a significant impact on the other players as well as yourself, so you should make sure that everyone at the table is okay with it.
Your DM may be happy to work some homebrew to make this work better than it does with RAW.

Posted Jul 10, 2024Yes and no. Blindsight has a fixed range - beyond that you can't "see" anything. And generally Blindsight ranges granted by things is pretty short. This would mean that ranged attackers beyond that range still have advantage on you.
Additionally Blindsight as a mechanic doesn't specify how the "sight" works. It just says "perceive your surroundings". Does that mean your character can read using it? Or is it just a way of detecting creatures and objects nearby?

Posted Jul 11, 2024personally, It kinda depends on how the blindsight is obtained, if its like gained due to overcoming blindness and heightening other senses, then I would rule it as an echolocation type sight and only be able to see things based off extrusions and such (so like a written paper will be just a paper, but if there was a carved message they could see it)
But if the blindsight is given by magical needs, then i would rule it like you are in a dark area with dark vision, aka you can only see in shades of grey
