Gem Ancestry

Gem Ancestry. Your draconic ancestry color is replaced with one of the following gems of your choosing; Amethyst(Force), Crystal(Radiant), Emerald(Psychic), Sapphire(Thunder), or Topaz(Necrotic) and gain resistance to the damage type associated with the gem you chose. This represents one of your parents being a gem dragonborn or you having a gemstone dragon ancestry.

• In addition at 3rd level you can cast the Detect Thoughts spell once at the second level without material components. When casted in this way you can communicate telepathically with a creature who understands you instead of reading or probing their thoughts. You regain the use to cast in this way after a short or long rest and can cast it normally using any spells slots you have of 2nd level or higher.
• Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).

This replaces your draconic ancestry trait.
