You have traveled widely, moved in many circles, or simply accumulated an improbable number of acquaintances. You gain 3 Network Points, which you can spend to call upon people from your past. You regain all expended Network Points after 7 days, and you can never have more than 3.
When you spend Network Points, describe briefly how you know the contact and what sort of person from your past might be useful. The DM determines the contact's identity, circumstances, and exact location. The contact can be found within one day's travel of you.
The nature of the contact depends on the number of Network Points you spend:
1 Point — Acquaintance. You know a friendly acquaintance in the area. The contact recognizes you, is willing to speak with you, and can provide general information about the local area, its people, and recent events.
2 Points — Friend. You have an old friend in the area who is glad to see you. In addition to providing general information, the contact is willing to offer reasonable mundane assistance, such as food, lodging, local transportation, ordinary equipment, or introductions.
3 Points — Connection. You know someone particularly well suited to help with a current goal. The contact might possess specialized knowledge, facilitate a useful introduction, provide access to somewhere normally difficult to enter, know a relevant rumor or secret, or offer another significant avenue of assistance.
A contact provides assistance or an opportunity rather than accomplishing your objective for you. The DM determines what the contact can reasonably know, possess, or accomplish based on their identity and circumstances.
