Boon of the First Vigil
Granted upon completing the Ember Sentinel’s trial.
You carry the echo of the First Vigil within you — the memory of those who stood unbroken when dawn itself faltered. Your resolve has been recognized by the ancient Guardians and by Kelemvor, who judges the boundary you now protect.
Once per long rest, when you would be reduced to 0 hit points or be killed outright, you instead drop to 1 hit point.
When this happens, you feel a surge of ember‑warm strength in your chest, like a second heartbeat. You may immediately choose one of the following:
-
Stand Firm: Gain temporary hit points (equal to your Proficiency Bonus + your level + your Constitution Modifier).
-
Hold the Line: Until the end of the current turn, attack rolls made against allies within 35 feet of you have disadvantage.
-
Guard the Boundary: You may force an undead or fiend within 35 feet to make a Wisdom saving throw against your Paladin spell save DC. On a failure, the creature is paralyzed until the end of your next turn.
This boon represents the moment you refused to yield in the scorched circle — the moment the Sentinel recognized your resolve and the Oath acknowledged you as one who stands where others break.
