NOTE: This feat was designed to be used in conjunction with the harvesting/crafting/cooking mechanics provided in Heliana's Guide To Monster Hunting
You have mastered the art of transforming harvested monster components into hearty cuisine, drawing out their natural qualities through culinary skill alone.
Ability Score Increase. Increase your Constitution or Wisdom score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
Culinary Training. You gain proficiency with Cook's Utensils. If you already have proficiency with Cook's Utensils, you gain Expertise with them instead, allowing you to add twice your proficiency bonus to ability checks you make with them.
Essenceless Monster Cuisine. You can prepare Novice, Journeyman, and Expert monster meals without expending essence. The meal still requires the appropriate edible monster components, Cook's Utensils, the normal preparation time, and a Constitution (Cook's Utensils) check determined by the recipe's tier.
Novice, DC 12. Each creature rolls one of its Hit Dice and gains temporary hit points equal to the result + your proficiency bonus.
Journeyman, DC 16. Each creature rolls two of its Hit Dice, uses the higher result, and gains temporary hit points equal to that result + your proficiency bonus.
Expert, DC 20. Each creature gains temporary hit points equal to the maximum value of one of its Hit Dice + your proficiency bonus.
The Hit Die used to determine these temporary hit points is the consuming creature's Hit Die and is not expended.
A creature must spend at least 10 minutes consuming the meal to receive its benefits. A creature can benefit from only one meal prepared using this feat per long rest. Temporary hit points granted by the meal last until the creature finishes its next long rest.
Mundane Nourishment. An essenceless meal does not activate or confer any of the magical properties of its harvested monster components. To gain those properties, the appropriate essence must be expended and the meal prepared using the normal magical cooking rules.
Artisan Cuisine. Artisan recipes cannot be prepared without essence and always use the normal magical cooking rules.
